A little over a year ago, my dear friend, John Shannon, passed away. We worked together painting the Whitney (and setting it on fire), and were in many art shows together. We often went sketching at Cranbrook or just set up our own goofy still-lives and painted. John was a great artist, a great wit, and a sweet gentle man. Once I moved to Arizona we were art pen pals, exchanging small artworks through the mail. In his final years, I lost track of John an my numerous attempts to find him failed. Sally Kaplan and I bot were on a manhunt for John, but he was MIA. To my great shock and sadness, his sister informed me that he had taken his own life.
l really miss him and his ovely artwork. Rest i Peace, my friend |

Not to make anyone jleuoas or anything but the fall colors are beautiful and the rustle and erratic flight of falling leaves elicit thoughts of wonderful years past and the coming of the year's most special holidays! Have the palm trees begun to turn yet? |
