Does anyone out there remember Sam Glist? He was an old weird wino that lived on Palmer and Cass and we used to hang around and drink with him sometimes on a patch of grass right across from the University. Steve from the Circa used to feed him sometimes. He used to plant plastic flowers in front of the cosmic cafe.

Hi, I remember him. I am an original member of the EMS Medic 6 out of the firehouse at Cass & Alexandrine from 1972-76. My name is Don Davis. I remember Sam Glist very well. Does anyone remember me or a wino named Paul Foley? I sure would like to hear from anyone who remembers those days.

Sorry I don't remember Sam or Paul, but I was wondering what was the "cosmic cafe"? I do remember a "character" named Carlysle around 1969- 70 who was a street person around Third & Forest..does anyone remember him?

I remember Sam very well, and his catch phrase "IIIIIIIII Know!" I lived on the corner of Palmer and Cass for a few before I moved back into 655 (W. Alexandrine).

I remember Sam. I was working at The Cafe Detroit as a bartender at night and Sam would come in about every night for a drink. There was a picture painted by Stephen Goodfellow on the wall that I bought for $20.00 called "Bitch With Clock" I sold it to Cindy (?) for $150.00 (Cindy was smarter than me). I would sing there sometimes on the week-ends with Frank Isola, and other groups as well. This was around 1981-2.

Hi Danny,
My name is Dee (Kalember) Allen. I knew nothing about the Cafe, but I used to go with Tim Parvin back in the '60's while attending our Grosse Pointe High School off Fisher Rd. :-) I've tried for years to get in touch with him, but he is also married and out of touch.

I remember Sam Glist. And I actually remember some Dally c.1990-2 where some death-metal-ish band was playing and they dedicated a song to Sam Glist. I think they had their sword stolen at this show as well?? For the life of me, I can't remember what they were called... I was in High School and possibly on acid.

That was Coven!!! I used to live in the Isabelle apartment building when Sam lived there. He was very strange, but funny. He used to call me "Queen of the Gods" every time I saw him. He threw a box of tampons at a waitress at Circa one time. I have lots of pictures of him. Sad when he died.

I remember Sam Glist. How cool that we lived in a neighborhood where even the wackiest people we met on the street (and shared booze/or whatever with) are remembered?!
