I was raised in a 4 family flat my grandfather owned at 2713 4th Street, a half block down from Grand River. Our front porch faced the back of the D'Hart apartment building, and its gravel "parking lot" although no-one who lived there owned cars. (It made a great place for baseball.)

I was born in 1961, and we lived there until 1972 (yes, we watched the riot from the front porch). We moved a few miles west, but my grandfather stayed there. I went to high school at Cass Tech, and practically lived with my grandfather until I graduated in 1979.

I'd be interested to hear from anyone who lives in that area now. (I now live in Montana.... quite a change!)

You can view my photographic art at www.darrylasher.com. When I get time, I would like to start a "Detroit-memories" weblog at my site. Stay tuned!

Hi Darryl,

Love to see the pictures you have from the Corridor. Please let the discussion group know when they are in place on your site.

Best,

Stephen
